International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG)
Founded in the early twentieth century, the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel began in the heart of a woman named Aimee Semple McPherson. Her God-given mission was to spread the four-point message of Jesus as Savior, Healer, Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, and Soon-Coming King. That same message is proclaimed in over 100 countries around the world.
New Life Foursquare Church
New Life Church began in 1972 with the same passionate and balanced approach to proclaiming Christ on which ICFG was founded. “Neighborliness” defines us as a community of believers who seek to be living expressions of Jesus throughout our daily lives. Our Sunday Celebration Gatherings emphasize contemporary, joy-filled expressions of love to Jesus along with Christ-centered practical teachings from God’s Word.
The New Life Strategy
Being Neighbors for Life. . . . . “We exist to reach the young adults of central Maryland for Christ by being a resource center, by maintaining and expanding a network of neighborhood-based small groups, and by initiating creative, need-based church events and programs.
Home Church Groups are made up of believers from all age groups and maturity levels. These networks of believers fulfill the Biblical command to love and serve one another: the mature and the young mutually encourage and strengthen one another.
Home Church Group Meetings provide a place for relational ministry—one to another. Family relationships will be strengthened toward health through Biblical teaching and the examples of others. Life-giving friendships are established and maintained. Every attendee receives the training and support necessary for healthy, Christ-like lifestyles to be developed. Pre-Christians can be introduced to Christ in a non-threatening environment where people they know care for them.
The New Life Values
- Vibrant and Engaging Worship: We want our worship to be stylistically varied and Christ-focused.
- Christ-Centered Teaching: We desire our teaching to be practical, hopeful, encouraging, and life-changing.
- Spirit-filled Ministry: We strive for empowerment and Christ-like ministry one to another for each attendee yielding encouragement, healing and true freedom.
- Small Group Meetings: We seek to minister hope and encouragement in an intimate setting one to another.
- Evangelism: Our goal is personal lifestyle evangelism within our individual circles of influence.” Additionally, we desire to use creative, need-based outreach events to reach our community. Further, New Life is committed to the practice of church multiplication.
- Team Ministry: We want to serve our church and our community together.
- Intentional Discipling of our Youth: Through New Life Christian School, New Life Home School Group/New Life Home School Parent Support Group, and New Life Youth Ministries, we aim to partner with parents in discipling young people.
- Interdenominational in Spirit and Practice: We give ourselves to stand as a “living bridge” of unity within Christ’s family.
Ministry Assignment
At New Life, we want to become a community of believers that:
- . . . is modeled after a university hospital
- Patients are restored to spiritual health and returned to everyday life to eventually participate in some level of health-care giving to others.
- Health care givers are trained, affirmed, and sent out to provide the same quality of service to other communities of people
- . . . is modeled after the purpose of our current meeting structure—a barn. In all this, New Life aims to provide:
- . . . a place of birth where pre-Christians are introduced to Christ.
- . . . a place of sustenance where believers are equipped to grow to maturity through loving, nurturing relationships.
- . . . a place of shelter for protection and healing from the storms of life.
